Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
Established: October 11, 2026 / Revised: November 1, 2026 (effective the same day)
Notice: These Terms will be revised on November 1, 2026. This page shows the revised version. See the Supplementary Provisions at the end for the main changes.
This English version is a translation provided for reference. If there is any discrepancy between this version and the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails (Article 18).
General Provisions
These Terms set out the conditions for use of the applications and websites provided by the operator of EntropyGrid (the "Project") (the "Operator") (together, the "Service"), and how participants' data is handled. Participants should send data only after agreeing to these Terms.
Article 1 (Nature of the Project and the Operator)
- The Project is a social experiment that aims to generate true random numbers (TRNG) from the subtle fluctuations of human operation contained in actions on smartphones and similar devices, and to verify their randomness and human origin.
- As of the effective date of these Terms, no corporation has been established as the operating entity of the Project, and the Operator is an individual. The Operator's name and address will be provided without delay upon request to the contact in Article 19.
- The Service is provided free of charge. No payment of money or any other consideration is required to participate.
Article 2 (Definitions)
The terms used in these Terms have the following meanings.
- "Operation Data": time-series data such as coordinates, timestamps, pressure, and the size of the area where the finger touches the screen, obtained from operations a participant performs in designated areas of the Service. It includes raw finger-trajectory data.
- "Sensor Information": time-series data on the shaking and tilt of the device, obtained from the motion sensors built into the participant's device (such as the accelerometer and gyroscope) while the participant is using the Service.
- "Analysis Data": random-number hashes, complexity scores, minimum-entropy estimates, feature values such as curvature, and other statistics calculated from Operation Data and Sensor Information.
- "Registration Information": the email address that a participant may optionally enter.
- "Device Information": among information about the device a participant uses, the type of OS, the display scale, and the input method (finger, mouse, etc.).
- "Participant": a person who agrees to these Terms and sends data to the Service.
Article 3 (Eligibility)
- The Service is offered mainly to residents of Japan and the United States. It is not offered to residents of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or the United Kingdom.
- Residents of these regions are asked not to participate.
- If a participant residing in these regions makes a request, the Operator will delete that participant's data and EGP records.
- Persons under 18 years of age must participate with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not send any data.
Contribution Value Points (EGP)
Article 4 (Nature of EGP)
- Contribution Value Points (EGP: EntropyGrid Point; "EGP") are used to record and display a participant's contribution to the Project.
- The only right granted to participants through EGP is the right to receive information about the commercialization of the Project preferentially (the "Priority Information Access Right").
- The Priority Information Access Right is the right to receive notices from the Operator about commercialization (including the establishment of a corporation, the launch of services, and whether any token will be issued) at the registered email address, before or at the same time as public announcement. Persons who participate without registering an email address cannot exercise this right.
- EGP has no monetary, cryptocurrency, token or other property value, and cannot be exchanged, sold, transferred, or lent.
- EGP does not promise or guarantee any distribution, allocation, purchase, or other right with respect to any token or other asset that may be issued in the future.
- No investment or payment is required to participate, and the granting of EGP is not intended as a solicitation for investment.
Article 5 (Rules for Granting EGP)
- EGP is granted only for the first data submission of each participant.
- EGP is recorded according to the participant number at the time of the first submission, as follows.
| Category | Participant No. | EGP Granted |
| 1st | 1–100 | 1.0 |
| 2nd | 101–1,000 | 0.1 |
| 3rd | 1,001–10,000 | 0.01 |
| 4th | 10,001–100,000 | 0.001 |
Article 6 (Referral Program)
- A referral link specific to each participant is displayed after that participant's first data submission is complete.
- Each time a person who joins through a referral link completes their first data submission, 0.01 EGP is recorded for the referrer.
- Participation that falls under the prohibited conduct in Article 12 is not eligible for referral.
- EGP obtained through referral has the nature set out in Article 4.
Data Handling and Privacy Policy
Article 7 (Data We Collect)
- When a participant sends data, the Operator obtains and stores Operation Data, Analysis Data, Device Information, the participant number, the transmission date and time, and Registration Information (only if entered).
- Operation Data includes raw finger-trajectory data, which the Operator stores on its servers.
- The Operator may obtain and store Sensor Information. Sensor Information is obtained only while the participant is using the Service, and never when the participant is not operating it or after the Service is closed.
- Operation Data and Sensor Information may contain components arising from body movements, such as habits in finger movement, hand tremor, and pulse. Because such data, combined with other records, could serve as a clue to identify an individual, the Operator handles it in the same way as personal information. The Operator uses Sensor Information only for the purposes in Article 9 (such as evaluating randomness and distinguishing human operation), and does not use Operation Data or Sensor Information to find out who a specific individual is.
- The Service does not obtain fingerprints, images of faces or irises, names, addresses, phone numbers, or device location information.
- Device Information does not include information that can individually identify a device, such as the device model, browser version, or device-specific identifiers.
- To prevent access by automated tools, the Service uses Google's Firebase App Check (such as reCAPTCHA v3) and anonymous authentication. Through these mechanisms, Google LLC may process information about devices and communications.
Article 8 (License to Use Data)
- By submitting data, the participant agrees that the data will be handled within the purposes of use set out in the following article, and grants the Operator a license, free of charge and without limitation as to region, to use the data (including reproduction, processing, analysis, statistical processing, and publication).
- The license in the preceding paragraph does not transfer ownership or any other rights in the data to the Operator.
- A participant may withdraw the consent in paragraph 1 at any time. Withdrawal requests are accepted through the procedure in Article 11. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of any use made before the withdrawal.
Article 9 (Purposes of Use)
The Operator uses the data it collects only for the following purposes.
- Evaluation and verification of randomness and entropy (including statistical tests such as NIST SP 800-90B)
- Research and development of methods to distinguish human operation from automated tools (human-origin proof)
- Providing the Service, detecting misuse, and making improvements
- Recording EGP, and contacting participants based on the Priority Information Access Right
- Publishing research results (conference presentations, papers, technical documents, etc.; limited to statistical information that cannot identify individuals)
- Providing data processed as set out in Article 10, paragraph 3 to research institutions or businesses, whether for payment or free of charge
Article 10 (Storage, Security Management, and Provision to Third Parties)
- Data is managed by the Operator in Japan and stored in Firebase (Cloud Firestore), provided by Google LLC. Storage servers may be located outside Japan, including in the United States. Participants agree that data may be stored and processed in those countries.
- The Operator takes reasonable security measures to prevent leakage, loss, or alteration of data.
- Except where required by law, the Operator does not provide personal information to third parties without the person's consent. However, data from which email addresses, participant numbers, and other identifiers have been removed, and which has been processed so that no one, including the Operator, can match it to a specific individual, may be provided for the purpose in Article 9, item 6.
- Data is retained for up to 5 years from the date of the last submission. After that period, or if the Project ends, the Operator will delete the stored data or process it into the form described in the preceding paragraph.
- The Operator may use external AI services (such as Anthropic's Claude) to analyze data. In that case, the data handled by the AI service is limited to data from which email addresses have been removed and in which participants are distinguished only by random numbers. Because such data can still be linked to the individual by checking it against the participant list the Operator manages, the Operator handles it as personal information. AI services are used under settings or conditions in which the provider does not use the data to train its own AI. The AI service provider's servers may be located outside Japan, including in the United States, and participants agree that data may be processed in those countries.
Article 11 (Requests for Disclosure, Suspension of Use, and Deletion)
- A participant may request disclosure, correction, suspension of use, or deletion of their own data by contacting the address in Article 19 from their registered email address. After verifying identity, the Operator will respond without delay in accordance with applicable law.
- For data from persons who participated without registering an email address, the Operator cannot link the data to the individual, so individual disclosure or deletion may not be possible.
- Data processed as set out in Article 10, paragraph 3, and published statistical information are not subject to deletion.
- If deletion is carried out, the EGP records of that participant will also be deleted.
Miscellaneous Provisions
Article 12 (Prohibited Conduct)
- Participants must not:
- generate or send data by automated tools (bots), scripts, emulators, or any other mechanical or non-human means;
- participate more than once by using multiple email addresses, devices, browsers, or the like;
- circumvent the Service's anti-fraud measures, gain unauthorized access, or otherwise interfere with the operation of the Service.
- If the Operator reasonably determines that a participant has engaged in conduct falling under the preceding paragraph, the Operator may invalidate the EGP for all related records and exclude the data from analysis.
Article 13 (Changes, Suspension, and Termination of the Service)
The Operator may change the content of the Service, or suspend or terminate the Service. If the Service is to be terminated, the Operator will announce this on the Service in advance wherever possible.
Article 14 (Disclaimer)
- Except in cases of the Operator's intent or gross negligence, the Operator is not liable for any damage suffered by participants in connection with changes, suspension, or termination of the Service, loss of data, or any other use of the Service.
- The Service is at the research stage. The Operator does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the random numbers, scores, or other outputs it generates, or their suitability for any particular purpose.
Article 15 (Succession of the Operating Entity)
- In connection with the establishment of a corporation for commercialization of the Project, or a transition to a successor entity that takes over the operation of the Project, the Operator may cause its position under these Terms, the stored data, and the EGP records to be succeeded to that corporation or successor entity. Participants agree to this in advance.
- When a succession takes place, the Operator will announce the successor and the date of succession on the Service. The successor will handle data within the purposes of use set out in these Terms.
Article 16 (Changes to These Terms)
- The Operator may change these Terms if either of the following applies.
- The change conforms to the general interests of participants.
- The change does not contradict the purpose of these Terms and is reasonable in light of the necessity of the change, the appropriateness of the changed content, and other circumstances.
- When the Operator changes these Terms, it will set an effective date and, before that date, notify participants by posting on the Service the fact of the change, the changed content, and the effective date.
Article 17 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. For any dispute arising in connection with these Terms or the Service, the district court having jurisdiction over the Operator's address is the exclusive court of first instance by agreement of the parties.
Article 18 (Language)
The Japanese version of these Terms is the authoritative version. If the content of a translation in another language differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
Article 19 (Contact)
Please contact the following address with any inquiries or requests concerning these Terms or the handling of data.
